There is only one candidate for the Pueblo Board of Water Works for the November election and community leader Sandy Gutierrez, a Pueblo native, is seeking the six year term. The seat is vacant after the retirement of Jim Gardner, who served 18 years on the board.
She is a Pueblo Community College graduate, with a degree in marketing and management. She lived in California for eleven years, then returned to Pueblo and has been actively involved in the community ever since, and was the president of the Latino Chamber of Commerce for almost 20 years.
She serves on several local boards and is now the director of SyCare, a Pueblo-based health care company covers 19 Colorado counties.
She says she can transfer her leadership skills to the Water Board and will be committed to ensure that Pueblo's water system is operated effectively.
